Sana secures $55m investment, and launches new AI features

Swedish AI scaleup Sana has raised $55 million in a funding round that values the company at $500 million. Led by NEA, with participation from Menlo Ventures and others, this latest investment brings Sana’s total funding to over $130 million, positioning it as one of the best-funded AI companies globally.

Sana’s mission is to revolutionize enterprise knowledge access using AI, allowing organisations to index, create, and retrieve information seamlessly through chat and search. “When knowledge becomes more accessible, progress accelerates,” Joel Hellermark, CEO of Sana, said. “The most important inventions in history, from the Printing Press to Google, have sped up the spread of knowledge. Sana puts everything your company knows at your fingertips.”

As part of its growth strategy, Sana has acquired CTRL, a workflow automation startup known for its AI-based solutions. This acquisition will enhance Sana’s capabilities by enabling automated, multi-step processes across various platforms, a move that aligns with Sana’s mission to create the ultimate AI-driven interface for enterprise knowledge management. “Sana and CTRL share a vision of augmenting humans with AI,” said CTRL founder Omri Sagzan.

The company also introduced agentic AI features, empowering organisations to build custom AI agents capable of performing complex tasks, such as filling out RFPs or updating CRM data, without coding. This functionality leverages Sana’s advanced AI solution, A-4, designed to streamline workflows and increase efficiency across departments. The company is also launching a Team tier to make enterprise-grade AI accessible to smaller organizations.

In addition, Sana’s next-generation enterprise search features enhances data integration and a refreshed user interface, allows for easier interaction with AI-powered assistants. Unlike Microsoft’s proprietary AI tools, Sana’s solutions are model-agnostic, integrating with a wide range of tech stacks to ensure seamless access to both structured and unstructured company data. “Sana gives us full control and customization over the AI,” Peter Jidesjö, EVP at healthcare company Permobil, which has already reported time savings from Sana’s system, said.

The new investment will fuel Sana’s global expansion and product development, with the company continuing to enhance both AI and user experience to meet rising demand in enterprise settings.
